The traditional approach to leadership

Traditionally, when we talk about leadership in the dog world, our understanding derives from observations of behaviour in captive wolves. Such leadership assumes that a dog must have a leader, or a boss. We are told to make sure a dog is not given the opportunity to assume the role of leader in a human family. To such leadership belong submission, intimidation, various forms of punishment, and a wide range of leadership problems that need to be solved.
